“Good-Very Good overall antique cond: For sale is this rcntly dscvrd & estate fresh, early-mid 19th c American Folk Art antique New England primitive, hnd crvd, maple hardwood pie dough crimper, w/handle, spinning wheel & carved floral hieroglyphs on the wheel"s facia. The pie crimping wdn tool hasn"t been oiled or prev lacquered & still has its nat dry, matte wd finish. The crimper is made of maple hrdwd & would"ve been realized from btwn 1835-1860, preceding the US Civil War & made during the American Empire period of the early 19th c. The crimper is made of all wd w/a metal wire rod holding the wheel in plc. The handle has 2 incised rings, circumnavigating its width w/a hnd crvd knobby end. The floral hieroglyphs of the facia of the wheel are finely crvd & remain largely intact, w/no wood loss or degradation of the clarity & crispness of their imagery. For a wdn hnd tool to have lasted this long, would"ve had to have been made of maple hardwood. A terrific early 19th c artifact. Nice”
