“Very Good-Excellent overall antique cond: Offrd for your rvw & cnsdrtn is this quite famous early-mid 20th c French hnd clrd drypoint etching by the Russian born, French artist Boris O"Klein (1893-1985) called "Dirty Dogs of Paris." This anthropomorphic etching was one from a series of similar prints Boris O"Klein authored & which bcm quite popular, w/dogs in urban attire taking on the behavior & characteristics of their human masters. This anthropomorphic attitude sees a line-up of dogs, big & sm, rich & poor, stndng in front of a wall & peeing against it, as would men, w/streams of urine running btwn their legs across the sidewalk & gthrng & pooling in the street below the curbing. The hnd clrd prnt"s pncl sgnd by the artist on the lwr R & inscrbd in French "Like Our Masters" (Comme Nos Maitres) on the lwr L in the prnt margins, outside of the pictorial plane. The drypoint etching"s hnd clrd w/opaque W/C paint, found within the bodies of some of the dogs. Fnd out-of-frame. Terrific.”
