“#Grade: Used. # Brand: Sho-Honyama, Mine unknown.Midori- Ita.Made in Japan (Kyoto).# Age: 1970s.# Material: Whetstone. # Type: Finishing.There are scratches and chipping due to aged deterioration,please check with the photograph.The hardness of this grindstone is Lv4/ 5.Smooth sharpening, strong abrasive power.It is medium-hard, ideal for polishing knives, carpentry tools (chisels, cannas), and straight razors (hagane).The back side of the stone has been manual-logged (12th photo).This method was done by skilled craftsmen to take advantage of the characteristics of the stone.This was a common method of formation in the Showa era (~1989),but today, more and more stones are being shaped by electric polishers.It is cashew protected except the abrasive surface.# Dimensions: (Approx) Maximum,Stone: 65x182x21mm, Weight: 539g.”
